Brock vs The World
I want to go on record right off the bat and say that I #1 Don't think Brock Berlin (or really any Spurrier QB) is a good QB for a Miami system. #2 Brock Berlin is not my top choice to see at the helm of the Miami offense. #3 I don't think he is in the clear for the offensive problems...he's the QB, he has to shoulder a large chunk of the load. Now to what I'm going to say.
I realize the culture shock it has been going from Ken Dorsey, a consummate pro at running Miami's offense, to Brock Berlin, more of a point and shoot quarterback. They are completely different in their talents. Dorsey was like a computer when he would read defenses. He was analytical and made great decisions. He, and the coaches, knew his weaknesses and played away from them. Brock isn't as capable at looking over a defense and seeing what it is going to give up. I think this is why milf was recruited to Spurrier's system, which is setup knowing where the ball is going while still in the huddle. Brock however does have a cannon for an arm, something Dorsey doesn't have. Although, I must say that #11's arm strength has been exaggerated to the negative side for some time. In the end they have many differences, but truly they do have one thing in common. They are Hurricanes...well, that is if don't listen to Michael Irvin.
Who are we going to start? Crudup? If Crudup was better then he would have won the job straight up. He had a shot last year and blew it. The way the two come across to me is like being asked, "Would you like to be shot in the hand or the foot?". I'd like neither, but I guess if you're going to shoot me I'll be glad it's not the head. The answer everyone seems to think they have is Kyle Wright. What's funny is that I see all these people hyping him up and then the same people later saying they can't wait to get their first glimpses of him playing. I don't know if Wright is better. From what I've read he seems like he has a much higher upside than Brock does, but the problem is his lack of experience. Milf's still young. If people want to sacrifice this season in order to get Kyle into the system and ready for next year, then fine...although I'm against wasting this defense. This year we seriously have one of the most amazing defenses I've seen. And as usual, we have an almost unfair advantage on special teams. I don't want to give that away, especially when I think that the "better" teams aren't as much "better" as the analysts want us to believe. We just need to adjust as fans.
